Re: Outlook Express Links

I am just about out of ideas.
I have a question, what color do links appear in OEs View pane?
Normal color is red or magenta if it is an active link that you can click
on.
Non working links (links that do nothing when clicked) are usually black
text. Even the black text can be copied and pasted into IE's address bar to
open that web page.
I found this article.
Internet shortcuts in Outlook Express do not start Web browser
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/177054
And this article. Read Number 5.
How do I make Hyperlinks in messages work again.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/oetopten.mspx
If your links are not working just copy the link into IE to read the
articles.

Dear Carl,
I can copy and paste the shortcut into IE address bar without problem and
get the information.
The other part of the information you listed is as follows:
Start/Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs:
HTML Editor: Microsoft Work
Email: Outlook Express
Newsgroups: Outlook Express
Internet Call: NetMeeting
Contact List: Address Book
Make Default: Greyed out
Please advise.
Thanks again.

Internet Explorer is the default Web Browser

What happens if you copy the short cut in OE and paste that short cut
into
IE's address bar?
What do you have in Internet Explorer, Tools > Internet Options, on the
Programs tab?
In the text boxes labeled Email and Newsgroups, Outlook Express should be
listed.
On that same page, under Default web browser, There is a Check box "Tell
me
if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser. It should be
checked.
If not click the button Make Default.
Make Default button will be grayed out of IE is the default web browser.

Dear CSM1,
The following is the way it is happening:
I receive from Microsoft a weekly Email, showing different items. If I
want
to find out on specific item, I click the "underlined item".
Then nothing happens. This is the problem I am having.
Thank you.

PS:I cannot even open "notify me of replies" which is at the bottom of
this
page.

Do you mean that when somebody sends you an email with a link to a web
page,
that clicking on that link does not open IE and show you that page?
It is likely that the link is not correct or that the link wrapped on
the
line, in which case you have to paste the link back together in IE's
address
text box.
There is a link in this post. My signature has a link to my web page.
Does that link take you to my web site? It should.

Dear CSM1,
"Do not allow attachments to be save or opened. . .. " has been
unchecked
all the time.
Please advise.
Thank you.

IE 7 does not change security setting in Outlook Express. The Do

attachments..... is still there.
Open Outlook Express, on main menu, click Tools > Options, Security
Tab.
It
is on that page. Listed under virus protection. Uncheck "Do Not
Allow
Attachments to be saved or opened.....".
FYI, I have Internet Explorer 7 and Outlook Express 6, OE 6 was not
updated
when IE7 was installed from Windows update.
