Wonder,
trying to import from a VCR composite feed to the Dongle adaptor. When
you
select the Satellite or Cable option for setup instead of Antenna, setup
REQUIRES an IR blaster to change channels. Setup fails if you don't the
blaster. Any way around having a IR Blaster?

No. The rationale is that MCE is not designed to hook up a VHS deck

Why not? Folks still use video cassettes, so it IS a valid connection. Why
shouldn't a user be able to choose "Watch videotape" as a choice?

MCE is supposed to be a hub/convergence device. All media is designed to
flow through the MCE device.

You have to draw the line somewhere when discarding old technology. Most
people used VCRs for
timeshifting TV programmes not playing pre-recorded tapes. That function
has been replaced with
superior technology in MCE.

There is no 'Listen to 8-track/minidisk/audio cassette/LP record' or
"Watch laserdisc" in MCE
either.

There should be the option. Those are old technology, but are not gone.

I still have 8 track tapes and audio cassettes and several VHS tapes
I even have Reel to Reel music tapes.
