Re: Problem Installing and with already installed programs

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I'm using AVG and I turn everything off in task manager when I tried to
install Nero 7.8.5.0. I finally gave up on it as it would crash just before
finishing the install. I did get my older version of Nero 6.6.1.4 to install
even with a typical send message box on the start of every one of the
installs. At least I can now read my CD/DVD that I saved with Incd as well
as record TV/Music though not through media center. I'm still getting errors
on every reboot from APC Powerchute monitor software as well as OE Quote
Fix. I have sent MS at least 50 reports of every thing that has crashed. All
of this stuff was previously installed and working fine with the exception
of Nero 7.8. I did have Nero 7.5 installed however.

I started getting the errors a couple of weeks ago now. I didn't realize
that Nero 7.5 had a sound problem till yesterday and decided to download
7.8. I uninstalled 7.5 then rebooted and tried to install 7.8. It seems to
get lost on the cab files which I worked around by moving them to the folder
it was looking for them in. After it gets all the files in place it then all
comes to an abrupt end with the last message in regards to updating the
registry. At this point I have nothing in Nero that will work.

The only thing I can associate with this problem was a few MS patches I
downloaded from MS. The problems started the next day I would assume as I
was gone a few days after that.

What antivirus are you using? Do you turn it off when installing software?

Yes, it worked with the restoring of Clipmate however when I went to
uninstall Nero there was no restore points save at that time. It is like
there was no System Restore at all.

Have you tried using System Restore to a date before the update to see
if that fixes these issues?

Does any more explanation show up in Event Viewer?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

First I'm running Media Center 2005 installed by Dell 8400 for about 2
years now. It has been supper stable until about 2 weeks ago.

My problems started to show up a few days after a MS patch though I
have no idea which patch caused it.

First problem was after I installed an upgrade to ClipMate and that
wouldn't run for more than a couple of seconds the turned it self off.
There was no error messages at all. I used restore to take it back to
my previous version and no more problems as of yet.

Second problem is with OE Quote Fix which was installed within a couple
of days of getting this system. It has worked perfectly up until the
previous mentioned patches. I now get a message to send a report to MS
as there is a problem with OELaunch.exe. Regardless of the message I
click don't send or send it runs fine afterwards.

Third problem is every time I reboot my APC Powerchute (back up power
supply monitor) gives the same type of error with problem with
Display.exe. However if I click on the icon for it in my Task Bar I get
the same message then it seems to work until I close it then the icon
is gone.

Forth problem is I was forced to uninstall Nero 7.7.5.1 due to problems
with sound not recording and have tried everything to install the
latest version of Nero 7.8.5.0. I have cleaned every thing off from
previous versions of Nero using their tools. It seems to install all
their files in the proper place then crashes during the install right
at the end with the same type of messages I get above then after
clicking on the send/don't send buttons I get another message
"Internal Error: Custom Action DLL crashed on last call in function
'NeroAg_RegisterComEx'. And so on.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
