Is the HDMI connection an input or an output? If its an output, such as your video card, you're wasting your time. If its an input, Media Center is not designed to use it. Additionally, the only way to get HDTV over cable is via an OCUR/DCT (OpenCable Unidirectional Receiver) and Windows Vista. These are not currently available, but will be available on pre-built machines from the major vendors.

How do I do this??
My Sony Vaio has an HDMI connection and obviously my HD-DVR also does.
Anyway I connect the 2 devices with an HDMI cable. I then go through the
MediCenter: Settings: Setup TV Signal. I have then tried both options:
"Configure mt TV signal automatically" and "I will manually configure my TV
signal" In both cases it is unable to detect the TV signal output from my
Directv HD-DVR. When looking at the inputs Mediacenter is looking on, it does
not specifically have HDMI. SO SO SO....what do I do?
HELP.
BTW....this works if I use an S-Video cable....but obviously I want the HDMI
to work.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Dieter
