Re: windows log-on screen

You caught my mistake, my old brain saw WORDS32 not WORDS2. Thanks for your
help!!

Hi Jon,

Other than ensuring that you're typing in the command line properly.
CONTROL USERPASSWORDS gets you the standard User Accounts window. CONTROL
USERPASSWORDS2 gets the older style user management dialog.

You can also use TweakUI for Windows XP to set the autologon information.

TweakUI is available from

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp (SP1 and
later systems)

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/downloads/powertoys.asp (Pre SP1
systems)

Doug, I have tried this several times, but nothing starts after step 1.
Any
ideas? TIA! Jon

1) Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2
2) Select the user account you want automatically logged on (this avoids
the
Administrator account being selected by default)
3) Uncheck Users must enter username and password..........
4) Click Apply
5) In the next dialog, enter the password, if any, for the account you
chose
in Step 2
6) Ok your way out

After installing ".NET Framework 1.0 Servicepack 3" I started incurring
the
following problem.

After I installed it during bootup or screensaver mode, it always goes
to
a
login screen. I don't have to put in a password, but just push the
icon
by
my user name. I don't like that. I like to turn on my computer and it
boot
all the way to windows and then start my startup items. I don't like
to
have
to walk back to my computer to hit my name in the login screen just to
boot
up. I am pretty sure it was the .NET Framework 1.0 Servicepack 3
update
that
did it.

Thanks
