Re: TV picture loses frames/Sound drop out when 20 sec left of son

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

A 7800 card should not drop frames even if processing 1080i HD TV programs.
It may be the drivers for you audio card that are causing dropped frames
especaily if you also have any problems with audio. Check your CPU
utilization if it is over 50% then some other process may be causing your
problem

Hi Michael

Thanks for the answer - after I disabled all the enhancements, the sound
problem was resolved.
Meanwhile I have found out, that the losing-frames-problem is related to
my
graphics card.

For problem of skip about 20 seconds from end of songs.
This is a long shot as the only reports of success with this fix have
been
Dell machines, but should be worth a try.
Note exact menus and paths may differ in a non-Dell machine.

right click on speaker icon
select playback devices (should get you to 'sound' window, perhaps get
their
from control panel as well)
in playback tab, select speakers/headphones , properties
enhancements tab
DISABLE all enhancements

(note I didn't find the fix, just passing it on)
would be very interested if this fix works on any non-dell machines

Hi

I have recently purchased the MCE2005 OEM version for my computer as I
want
to skip all my recording and playback devices in our living room and
replace
them with one device - my wife LOVE that :-)

Now I have two problems:
1: When looking TV, my TV tuner seems to lose frames in order to get
TV picture in sync with TV sound
2: When playing music (mp3's), every time there is 20 seconds left of a
song,
the sound drops out for approx 0.1 sec. I have an external Dolby
Digital
Decoder,
so I use the digital output from my soundcard.

Here is my setup:
Motherboard: ASUS P4S8X-MX
uP: Intel Pentium 4 - 2.4 GHz
Graphics: e-GeForce 7800 GS - driver: 93.71
Sound: Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS - driver:
TV Tuner: Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150 MCE - driver: 3.1F

Software installed:
MCE 2005
KB925766
MPEG-2 decoder: nVIDIA PureVideo Decoder 1.02-223
TweakMCE

What am I doing wrong in this setup?

Thanks in advice
Kim
