WinXP 2005 Media w/SP2 refuses to "see" 4 GB Memory

Have installed 4 sticks of Kingston 'Dell" 1GB \ DDR 2 SDRAM 667 MHz.

"My Computer" when 'right clicked' indicates 2GB of Ram.

Bios Memory tab indicates 1GB ram in each slot of the 4 available slots
for a total of 4GB.

Machine is a Dell XPS 600 with the latest available BIOS flash installed
(from Dell) on 3/8/07.

Any good ideas why MS Windows XP Media 2005 with SP2 only shows
2GB??

Thanks for reading and hopefully replying.
