Hello!.
I just now are having this problem! Up until now I did not need to record
and over-the-air HD recorded shows but my grandaughter missed 2 American Idol
shows and as a surprise I wanted to copy the recorded shows to DVD ( using
sonic software installed a while back with the Microsoft Multimedia Feature
Pack) just like I do with other recorded series shows, and then play they on
a standard DVD Player. When I try to copy the HD Pre recorded shown to DVD I
receive the error message unsupported format and cannot copy it to either a
Video DVD (Standard DVD) or to a DATA DVD. I have installed rollup 2 a while
back when I added a Media Center Extender. Any idea or have you been able to
copy your HD content to DVD?
Thanks!

This is driving me up the wall - I downloaded a little MS proggie:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=DE1491AC-0AB6-4990-943D-627E6ADE9FCB&displaylang=en
to tell me what video decoders I had. I then bought and installed
nVidia's PureVideo decoder, which is MCE compatible, and a guy in
this forum:
meant to add:

said it worked for him.
But it doesn't work for me. Setting Nv PureVideo to preferred, I
still get this error message in MediaCenter when trying to burn
RecordedTV to DVD. I can play back my Recorded TV in MediaCenter ok,
always could, I just can't use MediaCenter to burn it to DVD.
I can navigate to Shared Documents > Recorded TV and double click the
dvr-ms file and it'll play in Windows Media Player ok. I can also
use NeroVision or similar to convert the dvr-ms file to DVD no
problem. I just can't do it within MediaCenter
Arrggghhh!
Ok, solved the main problem - not sure what fixed it, but it's 1 of the
following 2:
1) Installed April 2006 rollup update from Microsoft
2) Inserted my Dell Recovery CD, chose "Install optional Windows
components", removed Sonic DVD related stuff, then re-installed it
Now I can add choose Create DVD, Video DVD, Recorded TV, and add files no
bother.
However I've now got a new problem! After I clicked to create the DVD, a
progress bar came up - I left the PC, came back 2 mins later and the disc
was ejected and I had a message "Error creating DVD". I also noticed the
disc was still blank, it hadn't been written to.
that fixed your problem. I was having the same problem you encoutered and
just installed the rollup and it fixed the problem. I didn't touch sonic. The
weird thing tho is that no matter where I check (add/remove programs and
windows update checker) the rollup doesn't appear on my machine as being
installed! I saw it intsall. As a matter of fact I did it twice. But there
doesn't seem to be a record anywhere that it installed. Go figure.
