Is there anything I can add to my current PC to make the digital cable tuner

The only way to view high def from cable is via a Digital Cable
Tuner (DCT) formerly called OCUR. PC's that support this will be
available this spring. Sony, Niveus, Velocity Micro and a couple of
others have announced these. You won't be able to build your own or
add to an existing pc.

Microsoft have failed miserably for years now to add any significant
features to Media Center (ever more user unfriendly DRM does not count).
This has resulted in not only pissed off customers, but has so frustrated
developers/manufacturers that they have stepped up to the plate to do what
Microsoft should have done themselves.

Note: I do include Vista Ultimate in this, which is the biggest waste of
money in history, even in the USA where it is a literally half the price
Microsoft are trying to gouge from us here in the UK.

MSN Remote Record for non US customers
- Fixed by the third-party WebGuide see http://asciiexpress.com/webguide/

Direct Digital recording of US Cable TV, even in HDTV resolution
- Fixed by timmmoore see http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/44138.aspx

EPG (Guide) for Australia and New Zealand, etc.
- Using BladeRunner and XMLTV see
http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/bladerunner/

DVB-S support (Satellite)
- Hacked drivers, from FireDTV, Technotrend, Hauppauge, etc.

iTunes in Media Center
- See http://www.mcetunes.com/

And ... not strictly a Media Center issue but Windows Media Players lack of
support for MPEG4 audio tags (and some other formats) is fixed by the WMPTSE
plugin see http://wmptagext.sourceforge.net/ as Media Center uses WMP it
also benefits from this.

There are a whole host of major missing features in Media Center (even
Vista) from a European point of view. I mean Microsoft don't even support
SubTitles (Closed Captions in US speak) on DVB-T (or DVB-C, DVB-S, and
DVB-S2 which Microsoft also still do not support). HELLO MICROSOFT WAKEY
WAKEY, we are in the 21st century now not the 19th. Analogue TV is _ALREADY_
being turned off in parts of the UK and Europe.

Unfortunately, the speed of progress from Microsoft is so slooooooow that
not only does Vista add nothing to the table, but even Vienna (son of Vista)
will probably not improve things either.
