The problem with videoredo is that I'm paying for a program that works but I
shouldn't have to since I though I was buying this when I boughtthe HP vista
movie maker system.
There is a patch written for mm2 and it is said that it would work with mm6
but I have tried both and can get neither to work, perhaps I'm doing
something wrong with the copy and paste to notepad.
Maybe someone with a little more computer sauvy can help.
Just and Idea.
Patch located at the green button.

Any pointers on how to create a system restore disk would be useful - back to.
this topic.
I have also successfully edited the dvr-ms files with videoredo - may be a
better option than WMM!
I am also using the Hauppauge dvb twin tuner card - using their vista drivers.
My Compaq is the SR2149UK system - made by hp.
I am also running Norton anti virus and Roxio comes as standard. Some posts
suggest an issue with Nero which I do not have installed.

Interesting. Unfortunately, I am also having trouble generating my "system
restore disks." The program vomits halfway through the first disk, and,
well, basically starts saying ridiculous things. But that's off topic. And
another HP problem. :-(
I would also think that the system restore disks would just reinstall
everything the way it already was. It would be nice if there was a way to
change this in the registry, or get a patched .dll file. Or something.
But for me, I guess it's back to the store for this thing. If HP won't do
anything to make it work as it should, then I can't justify having paid this
much for any product of theirs. And I won't give them any more of my sanity.
And my trust in them is just beyond gone. (Glad I bought it at Costco. They
are very cool about this kind of thing.)
Thanks everyone who responded. And, last ditch effort, if anyone out there
knows where I might find any uncorrupted .dll files (or if MS would be
willing to let us re-install the program FREE because of HP's screwups--how
about a REAL system restore disk?) please let me know.

IDBUG,
I am also having this issue and I think that HP may have altered the program
upon istall.
I to have the pre installed Vista Premium home edition from HP and I have
the same system set up as you. In speaking with both HP and MS and the
little detial I can pull from both with out paying more money to fix the
problem, I already paid for when I bought the system. It sounds like HP
possible made a change upon their installation of the software.
Did you recieve a restore disk with your system?
I did not and have no way of resetting this other than from he restore disk
I created upon start up.
Again I make the statement nice money grab HP and MS.
I'm seriously thinking of returning my system under a fault clause and
looking into the MACs. not my firstchoice as Ihave four other computers
running ms soft ware.

OK, I've been thinking, why does this work for some people and not others?
If you all are willing, I think it MIGHT help if we could gather more details
about our systems, so we can compare and contrast. It doesn't have to be too
specific, just video card types, mem size, system OEM, Vista Version, upgrade
to vista or new machine with it pre-installed, etc.
I don't know if any of this matters, but what if there is something we have
in common that is causing our software to fail? What is it that those for
whom it works have in common?
Any takers?
I'll start:
HP machine, iCore2Duo
Brand new, with Vista Home Premium pre-installed.
2GB memory
nVidia GeForce 7500 LE
I can't imagine that anything but a combination of pre-loaded software could
cause this (that's why I listed the OEM), but you never know.
And since I created this post under "suggestion for Microsoft", I'll add
this: PLEASE, guys, don't leave us to figure this out for ourselves. Please
fix your software so that it works as it is supposed to. I'm hoping for a
patch any day now. ;-)
