You are correct its twice now that I have forgot he is using MCE2005 andThe threads can become confusing when people talk about Media Centre
that his problems is that Nero screwed up his decoders. I hope he does not
have to reinstall MCE2005 to solve the problem. Maybe runnint repair from
his MCE 2005 installation will replace the .dll that Nero screwed up.

Yes it does but ATI provided DX9 support in its XP MCE drivers for 91xx

I believe MCE 2005 has the same requirement for DirectX9 support on
the
video cards.
The cheapest compatible card would be something like the nVidia 5200
series (~$40).

Why would I need a new card if Media Center TV worked in the past?
Indeed, why would you?
At the start of the thread you said:
I have tried just about everything except a system restore.
Why don't you give system restore a go? Pick a point before your
problems.
Then uninstall the intervideo codec, uninstall nero, install the
nVidia codec and see what happens. Do it in safe mode (F8 @ boot and
select safe mode)
Look, the 9200 is pretty old and yes it is DX8 ( I have one in the
comp. in the bedroom which I use to watch recorded TV) tho' it doesn't
run MCE I don't have any problems with it for playback.
JW, I think you are missing the point, sl8man is running XP version of
Media Centre- Hide quoted text -
but the OS is different. Vista seems to have its own problems due to
the fact that the OS is so young, i.e. driver/hardware compatibility.
Maybe the group should split into MC for XP and Vista?
