I'll have to look to see how far back my restore points go. I think I
installed Nero shortly after Vista so we're looking at Feb. 1-2.
I was almost thinking about completely re-installing Vista Ultimate, BUT I
have Ultimate from an anytime upgrade from Business to Ultimate. As I
understand it, I'd have to re-install Business then use my anytime upgrade to
get back to Ultimate. That's a major pain in the ***. Wish I could just
reinstall Ultimate and be done with it.

Nero 6 or Nero 7..
In any case I thin we have found the problem since I do not know how to fix
the decoder corruption that Nero caused maybe someone else folllowing this
thread knows how short of reinstallign or going to a restore point prior to
the installation of Nero.

JW,
Those are the drivers I am using. As far as the decoder goes, I wasn't
able
to download the Vista decoder check utility. The site seemed to be having
problems. I'll try to download it tonight when I get home.
I do have Nero on my system but it's the latest version of Nero since I
did
a clean install of Vista and installed Nero again using the latest
downloads
on their site.

What did the Vista decoder check utility I gave you the link to say was
your
Decoder?
Have you installed Nero on your system since I understand that some
releases
of Nero corrupt some decoders?

Initially, I let Windows Update install them. And it didn't work. So
then
I
downloaded Vista drivers directly from Hauppauge, and the problem
persists.
I've removed the drivers, software, etc. from the Kworld 713X tuner. Is
there any tool that will completely reset Media Center just in case
it's
still something to do with the earlier card I had?
Like you said, it should work with Vista WMC. And I called Hauppauge
and
they said the same thing and said I should call MS for support. Of
course,
if
I call MS they'll say to contact the tuner card vendor.
Uggghh...

Did you install the 150 drivers from the box, or let Vista's Windows
Update
install them? I have a pair of 150's in the Vista box and its always
seen
and installed drivers for them, and Media Center finds them OK...

My frustrations with getting WMC up-and-running continue...
As you may have read on previous posts, I was having trouble getting
WMC
to
recognize my Kworld TV Terminator. After hours and hours of
frustration, I
gave up.
Researching on the Internet, I found that the WinTV 150 would be a
relatively low cost alternative that is supposed to be Vista WMC
compatable.
So I uninstalled all the drivers and software for the Kworld product
then
installed my new WinTV 150 card, which is supposed to have Vista
drivers
"in
box". Sure enough, the card installed without a hitch with Vista
finding
the
drivers.
To my dismay, WMC still is not recognizing the card. I have three
possible
errors:
1. I get the error that No TV Tuner card was found.
2. I continue to get an error that Windows Media Center Receiver
Service
has
stopped working and had to close.
3. Windows Media Center crashes completely.
I have tried a number of things to get it working. I've used
Hauppauge's
latest Vista drivers for the card (and tool to remove the old ones).
Still
same problem.
I've tried installing Nividia's PureVideo MPEG decoder as I have
read
that
that could be an issue (although the MS tool to see which decoder
you
are
using showed that I already was using a compatable decoder for WMC).
Needless to say, I'm am very upset as I thought this would be the
end
of
my
problems and not the start of new ones.
What could still be my problem? Please help!!!
