Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance
Well, just to ask the obvious -- is there a modem installed in the computer
and is it functioning?

I can't setup a dial-up connection through the Control Panel for XP
Media Center PC. When I try through Control Panel, network
connections, create a new connection, connect to the internet, setup
my connection manually, the dialup connection option is grayed out and
the only option that is available is to use a broadband connection
that is always on.
When I try through Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Connections, I
can't add a new connection, I get a permissions error.
