Re: Windows Vista Ultimate and XBOX 360

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

When you connected your PC directly to your Xbox via Ethernet (no router in
the picture), did you switch the network type back to Private? (it will
automatically switch to Public when you are directly connected to another
PC)

Hi Todd,

Yes it is a full 100MB connection, the NIC in the PC is a Integrated one
for a MSI Motherboard. As I said the video streaming works fine with WMP11
but not WMC.

The Network is by default Wired cable to a Belkin Router, then Wired to
the XBOX. I have taken the router out and issue remains.

Thanks

You mentioned being warned that you have slow network performance. Was
this when you were running a full 100 Mbps network? If so, please
provide additional information regarding the network card in your PC and
the network switch that you are using.

Hi Thanks for the reply,

The Media Center logs at present only show Windows Media Center Extender
account Mcx1 has been created for device
'uuid:10000000-0000-0000-0200-00125A7E8344'. as the last log. However in
the past it has shown other logs like:

Cannot send Extender software to device
'uuid:10000000-0000-0000-0200-00125A7E8344' . Error code: 0x800704d4.

Any ideas?

Please check the event viewer for any Media Center events corresponding
to the time that you tried to add the Xbox 360 as an Extender. (right
click My Computer --> Manage. Select Event Viewer --> Select
Applications and Service Logs --> Media Center)

Hi All,

just finished udating to vista ultimate and have an issue with the
XBOX 360,
the XBOX is connected via RJ45 to a 100MB network to the desktop.

When I try to setup MCE it gets to step Setting Media Locations (6325)
and
ticks that it then moves to Connecting to Extender but fails to go any
further, on the XBOX it has "Contacting". I have tried it both with
and
without a firewall issue remains, plugged in directly to the desktop
and xbox and via a router.

If I run the network test it tells me it has slow performance.

I have also tried WMP11 media sharing and it works fine for video and
music.

Any assistance very much appreciated.

Thanks
