Not exactly sure but....
It sounds like your television doesn't support the resolution that
your video card was outputing to.
You could see it fine on your LCD because its designed to support
multiple resolutions. TV's are more limited.
What kind of television do you have?
Can you change to a lower or different resolution?
Just my $0.02 worth.

Last night, I finally managed to get my HTPC with Media Center going
and enjoyed a little dash of LOST.
This morning I woke up and media center would not load properly. My
television displayed a black jittery screen. If I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, I
would actually get the media center image back (of course I couldn't
do anything because I was in the TASK MANAGER window.
I have a GeForce video card and an ATI Wonder Elite tuner card. I
hooked up a small LCD. It looks fine when I only render on the LCD,
but as soon as I clone the image goes black/jittery. The fonts also
become unreadable.
It's crazy. I have no idea what just happened.
Thanks Noah. I got home last night and for whatever reason, the tv was
displaying live tv. Media Center is exasperating.
