Re: Media Centre - the monitor goes black.

Hi DWB and all of you people

I am taking the box + monitor to the vendor on Friday and hopefully
something will come out of it. In the meantime I noticed that you mention the
DVI and I have to say that the desktop model I bought does not have a socket
for it. I have the unused DVI cable because the monitor came with it
(originally the 22" LCD was not part of the package, the vendor just upgraded
the 19" to a 22" for free). I am just wondering if the resolutation 1680x1050
requires DVI. I am not really in a hurry to start using Media Centre, I just
want to make sure that the package has been assembled properly and with no
faulty parts.

I am not sure if the following (extract from "My Computer Information -
Hardware" in Start-Help and Support-Tools) is relevant. It says that the
driver is not supported.

Video Card:
Model: Intel(R) Q965/Q963 Express Chipset Family
Driver: igxpmp32.sys
January 11, 2007
Not Supported

Thanks,

Qim

Let me know if you find a solution to this. I also have
a Gateway 21' widescreen monitor, that I had hooked up to my
Sony cpu using DVI into a newly installed nvidia 7600GS graphics
board. Everything was working correctly, including HD dualview, but
after a system crash (unreleated) and a Windows restore, I've lost my
DVI
out. The DVI still works on the monitor, but it's not getting a signal
from the graphics card. I'm using VGA, which still works great, and the
component video to my 60" widescreen HD TV still works perfectly, but
I simply can't find out why this card isn't now sending out a DVI signal
when
it was fine before the crash. I've swapped out two different graphics
cards,
both with DVI out, and neither of them will output DVI either. I've
pretty much
given up on finding what the solution is to this, unless someone from MS
that reads
this group knows if this is a Windows issue related to either EDID or
HDCP.

Hi Joaquim
Is this by any chance a Gateway system with a digital monitor? I had the
same problem when trying to set my screen resolution to 1920x1200. The
screen would go black when rebooting and the only way to get it back was
turn the system off and restart. Has been sent back and it does the same
thing after installing all of my software. I am in the process now of trying
to find the piece of software that causes this problem.
