Re: New Linksys MCE setup/XP MC install
- From: Smeyer <Smeyer@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Thanks very much for the tips, there are a lot of interesting (looking,
anyway) tidbits in here.
OK, first the DvcConn.log file: here's the whole thing in all its glory.
I've inserted comments in braces { } for things I was doing. I will also
paste in the contents of the Event viewer logs as they thread with the
timestamps of the DvcConn detail.
Couple of observations-- The various "listener loop" errors are when I would
try to connect the MCE via my Wireless basestation (Apple
AirportExpress/Extreme). I was trying this in various configurations to see
if I could get the unit to connect wirelessly.
I appreciate your suggestions about changing the LAN cable, in fact the one
Linksys provided with the box did not work, but I caught that before I got
this far. The MCE device does say "Connected to a wired network" and I can
ping it, good LED status on the back, etc. I have tested this wall
connection and cable with a laptop and am able to connect fine to the
network. I agree we can try a hard-wire solution with a crossover cable
later, no time for that tonight I'm afraid.
Please see if anything in here trips any ideas. This is long and
repetitive, I was trying a bunch of different options. The first cluster of
these I still had the Norton products installed but turned OFF but the
installer kept saying it found them so I eventually uninstalled the whole
mess.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your assistance.
