Re: Problems with Media Center and Xbox 360

I have never had any trouble with Xbox Live from the start. As soon as
I pugged the wireless adapter in, I was able to download content and so
forth. So that is what is so frustrating, that I know it works.

Elvis - double-checking: are you able to connect to Xbox Live from your Xbox
360 when it's connected via wireless?

Todd,
No one has mentioned encryption...how does the 360 handle wireless access
with WEP 64- and 128-bit, WPA?

The fact that this works on wired but not wireless suggests that either
your router or your wireless adapter is dropping necessary traffic.
Couple additional questions:
- Do you have more than one router? (i.e. is your PC plugged into router
A, which is then wired to router B?) This is important because the PC
and Xbox need to be on the same subnet
- Are you using the Xbox wireless adapter or a third-party wireless
adapter?

The above is the DvcConn file after I tried the following:
1) Wired the xbox to my router, entered the 8 digit key and voila it
worked instantly with no problems
2) I then disconnected the ethernet cable
3) I then plugged in the wireless adapter and tried to add a new
connection because the xbox wouldnt reconnect
4) It would not connect at all - pasted the DvcConn file below called
Wireless connection
Hope that helps. Let me know if I have missed anything you need to
know.

Can you fill in more details regarding the order that you tried
things?
i.e. is the below accurate:
1) You wired your Xbox to your router and entered the 8-digit code -
the
Xbox connected fine
2) You switched the Xbox from wired to wireless and it no longer
connected
3) You tried re-adding the Xbox again/typing in the 8-digit code
again
(still on wireless) and the PC couldn't find it (or is the DvcConn
log from
before step 1?)

Please try directly connecting your Xbox 360 to your PC using
an
Ethernet
cable (a straight-through cable is fine as the Xbox will

This
will help identify/eliminate your router as the source of the

Also, if you're successfully making it past the 8-digit code

please
check the Application, System, and Security Event Viewer logs

you

Hi
I have Avast Anitvirus. I have no firewalls on apart from
Windows
or
the routers.
Have uninstalled Avast before but that didnt make any
difference to
the
connection.
Thanks for your suggestion

What anti virus software or software firewall are you

Most
Norton,
McAfee, PCcillin or a firewall like Zone Alarm, will block

allow the
360.

Hi Guys,
I really need your help, this is my last resort to
finding a
solution.
I have tried everywhere to find a solution to my problem
and am
at
breaking point with my pc.
I am trying to connect my 360 and pc and they dont seem
to want
to talk
to each other apart from xbox live.
I have Netgear DG834G router, xbox wireless adapter and
MCE
2005.
I have tried to port forward but to no avail. The xbox is
attached to
my router under attached devices which I have allowed.
Can anyone help me before I throw my pc out the window?
Thanks
in
advance for any help.
