Re: What is improved in the Vista media center component?

Richard,

I can't argue the inconsistency of the UI, but on your points below, I think
you are completely wrong. Vista has been delayed by MS several times now, if
the hardware makers have not had enough time to update drivers, it is
squarely their problem. What would you have MS do -- kick the doors down and
point guns to the heads of the developers? As far as the DRM issues, again
MS is a large multi-national company, that would be the obvious target of
lawsuits and legal proceedings if they blatantly broke the law and allowed
their software to violate copyright laws. Open source OS have a big
advantage in that, it's tough to find anybody to blame or charge with a
crime. It's not a question of supporting their customers, it's a simple
legal question, point your rants to your local congressional
representatives.

I blame Microsoft. They made Vista and they went along or caved to the
special interests rather than support their customers on DRM and HDCP.
Also, it is their responsibility to get the hardware vendors to make
the drivers available synchronous with their product releases. They
must take the blame for leaving their customers up the creek. They
wrote the Media Center. Blaming others is finger pointing and a waste
of time.
