What I found works is do a clean install of MCE 2005 and only install the
.net patches. Then you can either start the recording manually shortly
after the movie starts which bypasses their DRM strategies. Another option
is to get MSI's Theatre Pro 550 and use thier software to record the shows
that MCE won't. MCE will automatically chose the tuner that is not being
used(if you have more than 1 tuner card). Note that if MCE runs first, the
MSI software may not work(Power Cinema). You could just set MCE to use one
tuner so you can use MSI to record restricted content.
