I have media center 2005.
One thing I did yesterday was to enable UPnP which I had previously
disable on the advice of a friend who is a security guru. I played
around with it a liitle bit yesterday, and dind't repeat the problem,
but I didn't test it very long.
Don't know if that had anything to do with it.

So your Linksys router is functioning as a switch? Regardless, try
temporarily connecting your Xbox to the D-Link router and see if this issue
goes away (if it does, this isolates the issue to the Linksys router). If
not, try temporarily connecting your Xbox directly to your PC using an
Ethernet cable and see if the issue goes away (if it does, this isolates the
issue to your D-Link router).
Also, do you have Media Center 2005 or Windows Vista?

Dana,
I'm using the second router only because I already had it. I was able
to disable DHCP on the Linksys.

Why are you using a second router? I could see adding a switch downstream
from the router, in fact I do that in my house. The 360 connects directly
to
the router, while the Vista PC its connecting to goes thru a switch to
the
router.
I'm not sure if you can convince that second router to only act as a
switch
(and not a DHCP server, for instance), but if you really need _anything_
between the router and the 360, you can get a switch cheap...

I need some help for my situation and can't seem to find anyone who has
a similar setup. I just got an xbox 360 and already have a media
center pc. The problem I have is that because my PC and ISP connection
come through the home office, I needed to use a second router to
connect the xbox 360 in the family room. I haven't played any online
games yet, but the xbox 360 doesn't seem to have any problems getting
an internet connection. I can access the internet from the xbox, like
the online spotlight features.
The problem I have is that the xbox randomly disconnects from the PC
when playing music or viewing pictures and other media. I get a
message to the affect that the xbox has lost the connection to the PC
and needs to reconnect. Eventually, I am able to reconnect, but my
parents, who only have 1 router between their xbox and media center,
don't seem to have this problem.
Here is my configuration:
ISP: Verizon FIOS to
D-Link 624 wired to (media center is wired to this router as well)
Linksys WRT55AG wired to the Xbox 360.
The linksys' wireless functions are disabled as I use the D-Link to
access the internet wirelessly on my laptop.
I'm not sure if I need to forward some ports or something else that is
getting in the way.
I'm using a Zone Alarm firewall with antivirus.
Is there anything else I need to configure.
Thanks,
