Hello, I just rebuilt my media pc (components listed below) and
reinstalled
MCE2005 on it. The previous installation (same mobo, same tv tuner, diff
everything else) worked fine, no problems. But the new installation,
after
I've installed all updates from the MS update site, has a problem playing
TV.
I select a channel, start watching, and after a few seconds it starts to
chug/skip/pause, basically behaving as if I were continuously pausing and
unpausing it, at increasingly frequent intervals, until it finally just
stops
playing and stays paused. During the pauses, both audio and video are
paused. Any idea what might be causing this? Here's what I've done to
troubleshoot so far:
1. Checked that system resources are not taxed, using the ctrl-alt-del
task
manager. Not even close. No more than 1GB of the 2GB system memory is
being
used, and usually no more than 10% of the cpu.
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled the Nvidia Pure Video decoder.
New component (old component)
Asus A8N-VM-CSM mobo (same)
Athlon X2 4400 (Athlon XP 2500)
2GB PC3200 DDR (1GB PC3200 DDR)
2x 250GB Western Digital SATA2 HDD (2x 120GB Segate Barracuda SATA HDD)
Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (same)
PowerColor Theatre 550 Pro TV tuner (same) based on ATI 550 tv tuner
Same cable TV connection as well.
Any ideas what might be causing this and what I could do to troubleshoot
it?
Thanks,
Byron
