You're so much better off avoiding Norton Antivirus...

I pity those that keep paying for that product...

Hi again:
Ok.........appreciate your help. I'm a bit nervous about changing my
internet security set up cause I've never had a problem with Norton since
my
first computer in 1998 but I plan on getting Vista when it comes out and
I've
heard Norton & Vista aren't going to be ready at the same time. The AVG
program is already claiming compatibility with Vista so I thought I'd try
it
rather than paying for a year of Norton that I may not be able to use.
Thanks again!

You'll need to install it on each computer.

The installs are standalone. You won't be able to centrally administrate
them or anything like that. If you want network administration of your
AV
software, then you'll need to pony up for their pay-products

Hope that helps

Hi Gary:
Thanks for the reply! Would the proper installation be to install
the
AVG Free Anti-Virus on all three computers so I can use any computer
online
when the others are not turned on? Or will it only work if I load the
program on a central computer and always connect to the internet thru
that
computer?

I use AVG Antivirus Free here with no problems.
I don't use the Anti-Spyware part of their program (Windows Defender
works
well enough for me).

Hi All:
Someone recommended AVG FREE Anti-Virus and I downloaded it and
thought
I would try it before buying Norton again. Before installing it I
read
the
pdf manual for it and it said "not intended for networked
computers".
Does
this mean I can't use it on my three networked computers with one
connected
to the X-Box? That doesn't sound logical because I read that
Microsoft
is
offering it as a download for Windows Vista when it comes out. Or
is
it a
case that the FREE version doesn't work with networked computers but
the
one
they sell is different and will work? Anyone using AVG anti-virus
and
anti-spyware that might clue me in?
