Re: Extenders won't play recorded TV or LiveTV

Richard, the Media Center Extender functionality is the one place a DVD
decoder does not need to be installed. Live and Recorded TV are rendered to
the Extender by a different process.
Hi Doug, but he has a video error on the MCE copmuter.

No, the error is on the extenders and a XP Pro machine... the MCE is
fine, but when I view recorded TV on a DIFFERENT computer in the house,
not running MCE but just a vanilla XP Pro install, I get audio, but no
video, with the same codecs installed as on everything else... I
dunno... maybe my MPG2 decoder on the XP Pro machine is ALSO not
working, but that wouldn't explain why the extenders are not working.
It's a big f*****g mess. But, I'll take a gander at the XP Pro machine
tonight as well as make sure that the MPG2 decoder is functional. I'm
99.999% sure it is but that could be a solution to that one machines
problem, but still not the extenders.

....and yes, after I nuke and paved the MCE boxen, I recreated the
extender accounts, so permissions should not be the issue... as well as
I can connect to the MCE machine from the extenders, see programs that
are recorded, add recordings, view pictures, listen to music, et all...
just no Live TV or recorded shows.
