Here is some additional information I obtained from my media center PC:
Under Extender Resource Monitor
CPU Utilization (%) 1 - 2 [GREEN]
Disk Usage (Bps) 2553 - 4072 [GREEN]
Network Usage 103 - 206 [GREEN]
Memory Available 2570695 [RED]
Under Network Performance Tuner
Only the first 2 - 3 bars are highlighed and they are in the RED zone.
I have the media center extender turned on, but not streaming. I is on
the green button menu page.

Thank you Dana,
I'm not sure what could be wrong with the router as I am not an expert
in that department.
I have the DSL modem going into a Linksys WRT55ag router. This inputs
to a D-Link DGS-1005D gigabit switch. My HP x5400 media extender and
the HP Z556 DEC are linked to this switch.

If the CPU loading while the Extender is streaming is only 10-15 percent,
then the CPU isn't the problem. Next place to look would be the network...
the router would be a likely culprit...

I found this thread tonight when I was searching this group. The
problem here sounds similar to mine, except I do not have an xbox.

Maybe someone smarter than me can get some ideas from it to help out
with my problem.

My drive C: is 224 GB available with 73 GB free.
I have 3.25 GB of ram memory but only 3 GB are being recognized. (4
slots 3 w/ 1GB and 1 w/ 256MB)
I opend up the task manager but nothing stood out to me (but I'm not
sure what to look for) Here is some of what I saw:
Processes: ehrecvr.exe
CPU: 03 - 07
Then at the bottom of the task manager windows is:
Processes: 64
CPU Usage: 10 - 15%
Commit Charge: 561M/36
This info is while the media extender is running and streaming video.

I would first look at your Media Center PC. Start up Task Manager and
see if
there's anything taking a lot of your CPU time. How much ram do you
have,
and how much free hard drive space on C:?

When my HP x5400 media center extender turns on it trys to connect to
my HP digital entertainment center z556. After a bit of time it
displays this message:
"Your computer is currently in heavy use by another user or device,
and
has
few if any resources to devote to an additional user or device.
If you continue, both your experience and that of the other user or
device
may be unnacceptably degraded.
Press OK to continue."
If I press OK it will eventually connect but it never connects
quickly
or without me pressing the OK button to continue.
