I would first look at your Media Center PC. Start up Task Manager and see if
there's anything taking a lot of your CPU time. How much ram do you have,
and how much free hard drive space on C:?

When my HP x5400 media center extender turns on it trys to connect to
my HP digital entertainment center z556. After a bit of time it
displays this message:
"Your computer is currently in heavy use by another user or device, and
has
few if any resources to devote to an additional user or device.
If you continue, both your experience and that of the other user or
device
may be unnacceptably degraded.
Press OK to continue."
If I press OK it will eventually connect but it never connects quickly
or without me pressing the OK button to continue.
Where should I begin to look to troubleshoot this problem?
.
