Last night i re-setup the tv has i hadn't saved previously, the problem was
still there but i tried to record, at this point the tv picture started to
stutter rather than remain frozen. the recording when watching back played
fine (no freezes or stutters) in media center. in media player i had to
install some stuff to do with my soundcard before the file would play, when
it did at points it seemed a to stutter a bit.
however on re-trying live tv in media center afterwards it appears to be
playing fine. I have rebooted and tried a couple of times and the problem has
stopped.
If you know or have any ideas of what has changed it would be really good so
i can fix the problem if it arises again.
also, just to answer all your questions, primarily i use a tft screen with
vga connection, but also try to output to a crt widescreen tv via svideo.
thanks for your help

You can't watch LiveTV with Media Player only a program you have previously.
recorded so I would like you to try and record a program then try later to
watch it with both MCE and with Media Player..
If you have more then one display are you only running MCE only on the
Priimary display?
What type of display(s) are you using over what interface and at what
resolution?

The problem lies during setup as well as once completed, when you get to
configuring the microsoft remote to change channels using the ir blaster
you
have a small screen in the bottom left corner displaying the tv. Even at
this
point the image is frozen, when prompted to change channel nothing happens
unless you minimise the window to taskbar then maximise it again, which
will
result in the new channel, but again frozen.
Play and pause have no effect.
I tried recording tv once and it was also frozen.
A DVD does work and play correctly, Admittedly I have only tried once
though, but this was at the same time as having the tv issues.
All of these issues are in the media center section, I have not even
opened
media player, let alone try to watch tv in it, I assumed that both would
behave the same way?

So you had no trouble while doing the Media Center TV Setup, however, as
soon as you try to watch Live TV all you get is a single picture and no
sound and use of the pause or start icons have no effect, is this
correct?
Will a DVD play correctly in MCE?
Can you record a TV program and then play it back in either MCE or in
Media
Player?

Hi
I have completed a clean install of vista 5600, after trying to setup
the
media center section I discovered an issue with the TV, media center
recognizes a connection with the tv card and will bring up a tv picture
however that is all it is a picture, like the tv has frozen, all other
applications still work fine.
i've tried this with both the Vista installed drivers and ones
downloaded
from hauppauge that should work (i'm using a 32 bit version of vista)
i've
got the nvidia decoder and ffdshow installed.
the system is am AMD athlon 3200, with an Asrock K7v88 mobo, 1 gb Ram,
an
ATI X700 gfx card.
I have read about the problem with dual core AMD's, but assume this
isn't
the problem? i haven't tried the hauppuage tv software.
everything works fine on my mce2005 setup.
If anyone has any suggestions they would be appreciated.
Thanks
