Re: Xbox360 MCE cannot play music in "Dolby Digital"

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I think you'll find that Dolby Digital is only normally used for a DVD film
soundtrack and not from CD originated music.

Dolby Pro-Logic II automatically creates a seudo-surround pattern from any
stereo source, so if it is set as the default system on your AV amp for this
connection then this will produce a good effect but it doesn't mean that the
music was recorded with Pro-Logic coding.

Does this help?

I have ripped all my CD's to WMA format without "data losses" on my PC with
Media Center 2005. I have also an Xbox360 as media center extender in my
network with connection to TV and soround receiver. From Xbox to soround
receiver I have an optical cable.

When I open music from the Xbox without starting Media Center the the
display in my receiver shows "Dolby Digital". When I start to play music
from
Media Center it shows only "Dolby Pro Logic II".

Why ?

Have anybody similar experience/problems and solution to it?
