Re: MCE vs XP Professional

Media Center is built-on XP Professional. The only features lacking are:

1) The ability to join a domain, except at initial install
2) The ability to cache network logon credentials

Both of these can be gotten around, if needed by a well publicized Registry modification. Remote Desktop and the Remote Desktop client both work, just as they do in XP Pro.

Looking for a side by side comparison of the subject line. With a growing
business I have a home network already set up with two desk tops and two lap
tops. In the market to buy a new laptop. I travel and on ocassion need to
connect to my home network. Most of laptops seem to come with MCE.

Been to
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/howtobuy/choosing2.mspx
Only compares XP home and XP Pro
and
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/evaluation/compare.mspx
no side by side (that I could find)

Thanks
