Is it possible that your system is set to only boot from the CD? It sounds
like after restarting, the system is booting from the CD and starting the
install process.
Normally, a prompt comes up "Press a key to boot from CD" (or something to
that effect), if you don't, the system drops to the next device (hard drive)
and boots from there. You could try removing the CD during the reboot and
see what happens.
Also, when you had the initial problems, did you start from scratch and do a
clean install?

Installing Media Center 2005 OEM. Setup went fine until the whole
"insert SP2" screen. Canceled it. Didn't work. Tried installing it
again with the new given knowledge to reinsert the first disk, and the
installation goes fine until it gets done copying the files and
reboots. Then it just starts the entire process over again. Any
suggestions before I take a hammer to the hard drive?
