I had a similar problem once with an older laptop. I took the hard drive
out, reinserted it firmly, and it worked great after that.

There might be an issue with your hard disk drive, or a serious issue with
your Windows installation. The hard disk drive is being accessed during
the
Windows boot process because it's generating a Windows boot error, so I
suppose the good news is your hard disk hasn't completed failed.
If you are unable to start the repair process using the Windows
installation
CD due to the 'no hard disk installed' error, your options are somewhat
limited.
One option would be, during the boot sequence, just before the Windows
splash screen appears, push the F8 screen to display the boot options and
select 'Last Known Good Configuration'. This will try to boot your laptop
using the last configuration that resulted in a full boot up into Windows.
Failing that, reboot, get back into the boot options screen and select
Safe
Mode. If successful, go into Windows Explorer, find your hard disk drive
(usually the C: partition), right-click and select Properties. From the
window displayed, select Tools, then 'Check Now' from the 'Error-checking'
section and then click 'Start'.
If you are not able to do the above, there are a few other options to
retrieve your data.
How technically minded are you?

My labtop is saying it can not find the opperating system.
At one point it said \windows\system33\config\system was corrupt and to
put
the CD in and go to windows setup repair and fix the file. I went there
and
at no idea what to do. This morning when I went there it says it can not
do
anything because there is no hard disk installed.
Can I do anything to save my laptop and/or back up my files?
