Re: Using Media Center with an external soundcard does not work

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Perhaps Vista will convince this company to make drivers that will co-exist
with Media Center services.
Otherwise, that company runs a good chance of having issues with either the
Ultimate or Home Premium skus of Vista...

We all feel your pain in getting this to work, but again, you keep saying
it is a MCE problem -- it is not. It is a problem that your device vendor
needs to solve. It is not MS's job to write device drivers for hardware
manufacturers or, as in this case probably, an installation script.

There is no technical reason that your device shouldn't run on MCE, it's
just XP with some extra stuff (and by default, minus some networking
stuff). The maker of this device has done something in the setup to
prevent it from being loaded. Their line that it won't run on MCE just
because they say so is unacceptable, they obviously know that there is no
technical reason or they would give you a better explanation.

It is hard because despite the fact that I have done everything suggested
my
device still refuses to work and it is an XP Media Center problem.

This should be pretty much plug and play without having to mess with the
registry and turn off the sound cards. I have done these things and
still
have no success getting the device to function as it should.

If I had XP or Home I would be up and running. This is a Media Edition
problem.

I try to access the Black Box in Ableton Live and it still will not allow
me
to use the asio drivers.

Do I need to get A+ andMCSE Certifications to unerstand how to make this
work?

I'm still not clear on why this is so hard.

MCE DOES have everything Home has and more.

The problem with the sound card IS NOT WINDOWS. It is a failure on the
part of the sound card vendor.
