Re: Trouble with hibernating/sleeping

1. My computer keeps waking up from sleep mode. At first I thought is was
vibration from people walking, but I don't think this is true. I put the
comp in sleep and made sure all was still, it popped back on in about 3
minutes.
2. Is there a difference between Hibernate and Sleeping?
Thanks.
Yes.
Hibernate saves the computer's entire memory to disk and turns the
computer OFF. Really off. When you turn it back on, it reloads memory
from the drive and then starts from where it was.
Sleep (standby, officially) puts the computer in a low-power ON state
that preserves the current contents of memory. When it wakes up from
this, it basically just goes on from where it was.
It is my understanding that scheduled recordings and the guide
downloads can't be started from hibernation. They definitely can be
started from standby.
