Can you confirm that you have Media Center 2005?
You can do so by following these instructions.
How to determine the version of Media Center that you are running

If you do have Media Center 2005, then it is likely that the IDENT value in
the registry for MCE2005 is incorrect, causing the error you are
encountering. To fix this... do the following.
1. Open up your registry using regedit.exe
2. Find the sub-key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media
Center
3. Check the Ident value, it should be set to 3.0 when you install Update
Rollup 2
4. Install the Full Xbox 360 software (available at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/8/5/28521E1E-120E-4D05-8310-3E43F2734431/XboxMCEFULL-ENU.exe )
After installing Update Rollup 2, the Ident value should be updated to 4.0
