Re: sfc /scannow version to read DVD?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Restoration CD/DVD sets are not the same as a normal XP/MCE installation CD set. First, locate the I386 folder on your computer. This is placed there by the manufacturer so you can add/remove Windows components without needed a separate disc. This could be C:\Windows\I386 or C:\Winnt\I386, but you'll need to find it, if it isn't in either of these locations. Next, click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

In the right pane locate the SourcePath value and double click it. Enter the full path to the I386 folder. Now, you should be able to run SFC with no problems.

Elsewhere in this newsgroup, I found some reference to sfc /scannow, which I
ran to investigate an issue I am having (separate thread). It told me that
missing files needed to be added to the DLL cache and
prompted me to insert my Windows XP CD2. I inserted the Dell-provided
Operation System re-installation DVD, but that did not appear to satisfy sfc
(told me I had the wrong CD).

Any ideas at all on how to get sfc to read my DVD? Or, on what files I might
need to re-install in order to restore Fast Context Switching in user
accounts (option is selected, but C-runtime error results when switching to
second user account)?
