Many thanks for all replies, which I will
study.
I 'old movies' referred to are the pre-WWII
late-night TV transmissions, and on my
present TV (a CRT) my DVD copies of these
(Nero6) give a resulting playback image which
floats in the centre of the screen. Zooming
this small picture annoyingly expands the
picture too much so that area around the
edges is lost. Nobody seems to make an
adjustable zoom, and I hoped Media Centre
could handle it. Any 3rd-part add-ins?
Regards, Frank

I want to connect a wide-screen flat-panel
TV to the media centre on my computer.
What sort of TV should I ask for that is
suitable, and what connections must it
have?
Also, will media centre expand the image on
the panel so that even very old movies
(with curious aspect ratios) can fill the
screen area completely, at least in one
direction?
Does Media Centre automatically sense the
size of the flat panel screen?
Also, does the Media Centre zoom have an
adjustment other than the 1,2,3,4, preset
zooms: that is, can the zoom be gradually
increased to suit old movies weird image
sizes?
Please help, Frank
.
