As long as you have basic cable, it shouldn't need anything special. Does the same connection work straight into a cable-ready TV?

do I need a special cord to do that? I bought a coxial cable cord to connect
from the splitter to the pc and it doesn't work, it comes in scrambled

(have splitter because I need to also send signal from the wall to the modem
for our phone connection)

If you don't have a set top box, you don't have Digital cable (unless your
TV has cable cards support). Just connect the cable to the tuner card in
your PC.
