MCE is Windows XP Pro, with two changes. It (by default) can not login to a
domain-based (corporate) network and it does not cache security credential.
This is because of MCE's use of Fast User Switching for Extenders. These
issues can both be overcome by setting the domain at install or by using a
reg hack after the fact, this will disable the use of Extenders.
If you are not on a domain-based network, then you don't even need to worry
about the differences, you have XP Pro as the underlying OS already. If you
do need to use the domain login, search here or thegreenbutton.com to find
information on the hack, as this topic is covered frequently.

Hi everyone!
I bought a Dell machine and it came with Windows XP Media Center. Can I
switch to Windows XP pro as an upgrade or do I need to format and
re-install
everything?
Thanks in advance! :)
