Are you only seeing this error when using Transcode 360? (I thought you saw
this error when listening to music?)

The add-in is called Transcode 360, it's used for transcoding and
streaming
video to the Xbox 360. I use it to view holiday videos recorded on
DVD-RAM
which MCE will not play natively. I checked the logs for T360 and they
don't
show any errors, the processes that side are running exactly as they are
supposed to.

Can you provide more info regarding your comment "The error, which seems
to
fault on a MCE add-in..." (are you referring to an extensibility
application?)
Also, do you see any errors in the Event Viewer logs?

Yes I can see all types, except TV as I do not have a tuner installed.
The
error, which seems to fault on a MCE add-in is: Service cannot be
started.
The service process could not connect to the service controller

Do you see this will all media types? (TV, music, videos)
Also, please check the Application, System, and Security Event Viewer
logs
(right click My Computer --> Manage) for any errors corresponding to
the
time that you saw this message and then post them here.

Hi all,
I have been using my Xbox 360 as a media extender for some time now
with
little or no problems - except today. In trying to play media
(pretty
much
from this afternoon onward!) I've been getting this error:
"Extender Communication Error
An error occured while communicating with the Extender. Reset your
extender
and try setup again."
What's weird is, it was working fine this morning. I can only think
the
360
has an issue with an item of media I played and it has hung at some
stage.
However, now I can't play anything. All my router ports are open
and
no
configuration changes have been made... this has come up just since
turning
it off in the morning and back on in the afternoon. Has anyone else
had
(and
successfully resolved) this error?
.
