Re: Trouble connecting my 360 to my Media Center PC

Now after changing the ident value to 4 and trying to re-install the MCX
software I get an error saying that there was an error and that I should
un-install and then re-install the media center update. Going into add/remove
programs however and trying to un-install the update I get a message saying
"This update cannot be removed."

Here are the contents of DvcSetup.log. The newest one is from today, the one
before that is from when it installed "successfully" yet still didn't work.

Well, in the "About Media Center" it says I have this version:
Media Center Edition 2005 Version 5.1.2710.2732 (xpsp(wmbla).050805-1239)
Update Rollup 2

And the ident tag is 3. What would you suggest?

For MCE 2005, it should be 4.0, if you have Update Rollup 2 installed.

I don't see an ident key. I took a screen shot of where it should be
according to you though so you can check it out at <a

problem.

Alright, so I have a Media Center PC and a 360 and I'm
trying
to
connect
them, but it isn't quite working right. I go through the
setup
on
my
360
and
it tells me to copy down an either digit key and then
install
the
software
on
my PC. I do that, but it finishes installing on my PC
without
even
asking
me
to enter the key anywhere.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/extender/setup/ssviewer.mspx

If you look on that page under the "At Your Media Center
PC:
Xbox
360
Setup"
heading I get to slide #3 and then it tells me my 360 is
authorized
and
installation is complete without ever telling me I need to
enter
a
key
or
restart my PC. Anytime I click the media center icon on my
360
though
it
just
tells me to copy the key down and go through the setup
process,
which
I've
already done numerous times, and every one of those times
it's
told
me
setup
was complete. Windows media connect is also running fine on
my
PC
and
when
I
look in there it's showing the 360 as connected just fine,
but
again,
any
time I click the media center icon on my 360 dashboard it
just
checks
the
network and then takes me back to the "copy down this setup
key"
and
then
"install PC software" screens.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
