The guide also needs https access in addition to http (so it'd need port 80
and port 443 outgoing).

Thanks! I will try that out.
One thing that struck me is that there has been changes to my firewall. Is
the guide simply using http for download, or is there anything else that
need
to be open?
Thanks!

Typical response:
1) Check your system Date and Time, including the year and ensure
they're
correct.
2) Check your system's time zone setting and make sure its correct.
3) Additional troubleshooting steps

Of particular interest:
In my case the "it just broke without me doing anything" wasn't
necessarily
the case. I'm not 100% sure if installing BladeRunner Pro actually broke
Guide download in my case since I tried installing it after I begun
having
problems with channels only showing "No TV Signal".
Anyway, what BladeRunner Pro did was that it modified the pointer URL
where
MCE downloads the guide. The registry key is located at:
HKLP\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\EPG.
There you have discSvc which is in my case
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=41105&clcid=0x409 (I guess clcid
is
related to my location?). After installing and _uninstalling_ bladerunner
pro, that url remained something related to bladerunner.
What I did, was that I deleted that registry key (remember to backup it)
and
run the EPG setup procedure inside MCE again and it recreated the
registry
key. After that I've had no 14/33 errors.

Hi!
Since a few days back I get "Guide server error (Code: 33)" when I try
to
get the latest guide listings. This occurs on two machines. No changes
have
been made to these.
I noticed that time zone issues where given as a possible reason back
in
April, so I've already double checked that - unfortunately to no
avail...
Thanks!
