Thanks for the timely reply. This was one of the first things I tried and
found that although restore is turned on I have no restore points they
seem
to have gone south with everything else. I have been trying to fix this
for
about 2 weeks. I have neither added or deleted anything since the incident

have tried to restore my recycle bin which did nothing. As of 10 minutes
ago
I tried to run a program called file saver from cd. This is also a no go
as
to access the cd I have to r click the drive and choose open than r click
the
folder to get to the files. At that point I can highlight the exe file
however I could hit enter or click it forever with no result and no
acceptable r click option at this point. Should I be scared yet???

Not even sure what I did but I know it was me. I seem to have lost all
of
my
exe files and the ability to access anything and make it run. When the
computer is booted, before it will let me sign in I get a strange
screen
with
a title on top that is nothing I can decipher. It's content is 1 to 10
characters depending on it's mood. It cannot be closed the only thing
it
will
accept is an ok answer, then it will go to the sign in screen and wait
for
my
password. I then get a screen that has a message telling me that Adobe
reader
cannot open approx. 8 files and you have to click ok to each of these
and
then close Adobr reader.At this point I get my desktop on which all the
icons
have the correct names but the icons are all the same picture except
Outlook
which will work. It matters not what else I click on nothing is
accessable
not even my internet connection which says it cannot be found. The
message
I
recieve for the majority of my programs and files is "This file does
not
have
a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an
association in the folder options control panel." I have tried but I
believe
I am at DUH! . I need to get all this back without loss if possible.
