Okay, maybe not poetically, but...

For a couple of years, I've been happy with MCE and a std. television (the audio was just through the TV speakers).

However, I just bought a new plasma (audio connected to MCE via coaxial SPDIF). I now also want to upgrade to a better sound system (receiver, speakers, etc). It could be a 2.1 system because of the difficulty in running the rear channel 5.1 speakers. Also, another big reason for it is just to play music through MCE.

I do NOT want to integrate another remote control (for the receiver) into my living room clutter. Is there a good universal remote for MCE with more flexibility on programming buttons?

Or should I go with a set of 2.1 amplified PC speakers connected directly to the MCE computer instead of a receiver? Any suggestions on which one?

I'm curious to know how others have solved this dilemma.

I would start by looking at "universal learning" remote controls.
