Re: Photo Story with Downloaded Music

You'll need to burn the song(s) to an audio CD using third-party tools,
then use those same tools to "rip" the CD to mp3 files. The mp3 files
will be usable without restriction.

If there is no way (or not permitted) to burn the songs to CD, then
there is a more complicated path based on "capturing" the audio as it
is played, but that's another story using other tools.

I bought it from Buy.Com, but when I try to insert it into Photo Story, it says it won't allow it because it's "Protected".

I guess I'm "just dumb" but I don't know how to export to a DMR less format! All I tried was to insert within the program when you could add music & it didn't work!

Depends on what your online music store lets you do. For instance, iTunes will let you burn that song to a CD, which you can then rip with Media Player into a generic MP3 or a WMA file, and easily use that.

If wherever you got this song won't let you do that (or otherwise export to a DRM-less format), then you got ripped off and you should complain...your fair use rights just got trampled.

I downloaded a song to use for a private video of Digital photos....now it
seems the song is Protected & cannot be used for the DVD (much to my dismay
since I paid for the download). is there any way to use the song by
re-recording, etc? I am "so upset"...I NEVER thought about that problem
prior to downloading!
