You are right this is OT, why don't you try posting on a W2K or IE
newsgroup. I'm sure you would get more (and better) suggestions than on this
Windows Media Center forum, which as far as I can tell, doesn't seem to have
anything to do with this problem.

Hi Everyone
I apologise for the OT. This is also actually on a windows 2000
workstation:
We have an application that works through java in I.E.
The people view faxes through this application using the windows default
image viewer.
On one workstation when you try to view the tif image, the it says
"Installing components" for a second in the status bar of I.E and then you
cant see the image. (It shows a block with a cross in it like the image
does
not exist)
I have checked that the file association for tif's is correct and you can
open a tif that is saved on the workstation with no problem.
i honestly dont know where to go from here. It looks as though I.E is
trying
to install software to view the image but it doesn't show where it is
trying
to connect. Is there somewhere I can see this or a log of what I.E was
trying
to do?
Can I force I.E. to view the image?
I have tried installing IRFan viewer to associate the file with something
else and you get the same result.
I have re-installed I.E. and everything.
I am desperate.
Thanks for you time
.
