IR Blaster Distance

According to eveyr website and forums, in order to view ALL the cable
channels through a tv tuner and change the channels, an ir blaster is
required. My question is what the range of the ir blaster. My cable
box is 2 rooms away from my desktop computer. The coaxial cable is no
problem for me to setup, but if the ir blaster is one room and
computer is 2 rooms away, is the signal strong enough to reach the
computer? Will I need to get an ir blaster with a 10 feet extension or
some sort of repeater?
