Re: Ati Radeon 9550 Graphic card

If you are not a gamer over 128MB recommended by MS for HDTV is not
required on a graphics card since even when processing 1080i HDTV the
numbers of full size frame size buffers required does not require a lot over
64MB.
I agree 512MB of system memory is just fine, that is what MS recommended for
using HDTV tuners when MCE 2005 was launched.

I think that means the card comes with 256Mb of video memory - it shouldn't
need any of your system RAM. Of course, more memory is always better, and
there are those that believe we should all have 1Gb. I'm of the opinion
that 512Mb is OK, but 256 is a bit too low for decent performance.

The Ati Radeon 1300 pro requires 350 power supply and 256 of system
memory.
this mean i will have to replace my existing power supply. Will i need to
add a memory too since i only have 222356 of available physical memory by
looking at task manager? Is this graphic card good at displaying games
also
or is this card better at video?

A 9550 is not much better then a 9200 aned probably draws onlyg slightly
more power. I would think if you were going to upgrade you would select
a
new one with a lot more graphics power and ability to display good
quality
TV video such as a 128 MB X1300 Pro if you prefer ATI cards.

my system configuration
MCE 2005
Intel Pentium 4 HT 2.8ghz
512mb memory
Ati Radeon 9200 128mb AGP 8x
TV tuner
7in1 memory card reader
2 optical drive(DVD burner and CD drive)
160GB
floppy drive

I'm thinking of replacing my Ati Radeon 9200 to Ati Radeon 9550. Does
this
mean that i will also need to replace the HP 200 watts power supply or
is
my
HP power supply enough?

here is the system requirements for Ati Radeon 9550 on newegg website.

System Requirements Intel Pentium 4/III/II/Celeron AMD-K6 Duron Athlon
Athlon XP or compatible with
AGP 4X (1.5V), 8X (0.8v) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration
(4X/8X).
128MB of system memory
Installation software requires CD-ROM drive
