Re: System Requirments

512 is recommended for MCE. If you're not actually playing back content on the PC you might be able to get away with less.

Yes, you can mix and match tuners, but I would say that the typical user has matching tuners for analog and/or HDTV. And for analog there's no reason to even have two separate tuners, as there are number of "dual" tuner solutions. You can have up to two each of analog and HD tuners. The "hybrid" HDTV tuners are not supported, as such in MCE. They're treated as HDTV tuners.

Thank you for the fast reply.

I plan to use it as a DVR for TV and using the 360 to view the shows. All
this computer is going to do is record TV for shows that I want recorded. I
will not be playing the shows on the computer itself.

Can I have multiple TV Tuners (different manafactures or hardware versions)

I only have 128 or 256MB (I haven't turned it on for about a yr or so) do I
really need the 512?

Bill

I have searched for these on MS's website and through the forums. The only
requirements that I could find was for Windows XP (Home & Pro) nothing on
MCE
2005. I did not want to assume they are the same so if this is a repeat
question then the search is not working and I am sorry,\.

Basically, the same as Windows XP with the addition of:

- A video card that supports DirectX 9 in hardware
- A TV tuner that does hardware encoding

It helps to have more ram (512meg at least) and lots of hard drive space if
you plan to record a lot of TV.
