Re: What is "nVidia WDM Video Capture"?

Since you are running MCE I would suggest ininstalling all Hauppauge drivers
and then installing only the latest MCE drivers from the Hauppauge Website
since this is the normal MCE configuraation for Hauppauge cards. Having both
the MCE drivers and the regular windows drivers(those used by WinTV2K and
other 3rd party applications) on the system causes problems for many users.

Other than reloading Media Center from scratch, the only other thing I can
think of is that maybe the WinTV2000 grabbed the tuner and isn't letting
anything else use it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the nVidia driver and Hauppauge driver.
After reinstalling the nVidia driver, "nVidia WDM Video Capture"
doesn't even show up in the Device Manager anymore. Oh well... probably
didn't need it anyway!

Just for fun, i tried installing "WinTV 2000", the tv viewer from
Hauppauge. I wanted to see if that program would tune into
anything.... and it does!! What a great feeling to finally see a TV
signal!

So i know my Hauppauge tuners work, BUT....

I still cannot view live tv or record from WCE... my PC reboots
automatically every time i try.

In SageTV, i get this error: "Error (-10) No encoders can tune the
selected station"

And finally, Windows Movie Maker gets this error when i try to capture
TV:

"The device is not responding. Close any other application that is
using the device and try the capture again." I don't have any other
application open!

Any tips/advice before i throw my pc out the window?

Thanks,
John

Well, check the back of your display card...if it has a RF connector, it
probably has a tuner. I have no idea why the WDM driver would be
installed
if you don't have an nVidia tuner. I'd suggest uninstalling both your
tuner
driver and your video driver, reboot, then reinstall them. Hauppauge
doesn't
completely uninstall, you have to find an EXE on their web site and
follow
some arcane procedure to remove all traces of it.

What error do you get in Movie Maker?
