Looks like the standard stuff, should work fine. I wish I had found that
$9.99 one last year. I did the same thing, bought a Harmony remote and only
needed the receiver, I bought mine new at newegg for ~$25.

Not sure what the remote controls in Media Player, never tried it.

Microsoft Remote for MCE purchase question

I want to buy a Microsoft remote and IR receiver for MCE for the sole
purpose of getting an MCE compatible IR receiver for my PC. The remote
itself will be an extra that will be nice to have but I plan to use one of
the Harmony remotes.

Does anyone see any reason I cannot/should not buy one of these below
referenced re-packaged Dell branded Microsoft remote / receiver combos in
the interest of saving money? Would there be any difference between them
for my purposes?

In a related question I plan to try both MCE 2005 RU2 and the Vista Beta 2
version initially but before that I wonder if I'll be able to use this
combo with my regular Win XP Pro install to simply run Windoes Media
Player (I'm currently running the v11 beta).

From poking around on the net, it appears these re-packaged Dell branded
versions should be identical to the Microsoft branded version but I wonder
a little about the part number variations and possible differences between
them and/or the official (single version?) Microsoft product.

The last one of the re-packaged versions is the most appealing to me since
it's the cheapest.
